Dr Cheng Wan-Ni
Dr Cheng Wan-Ni is a veteran early-childhood educationist with decades of experience in practice, policy, and teacher training. An expert in theory and practice, Dr Cheng specialises in early-childhood curriculum, child development, preschool management, and child welfare. Currently, she serves as the Dean of the Early Childhood Care and Education Department / Senior Lecturer at the Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL). Dr Cheng, who is an award-winning writer, has in recent years, begun to write children’s picture books. She has published several picture books that incorporated elements of Singaporean culture.
This seminar aims to teach parents how to use picture books, household props and scenes, and games to make Mandarin learning more enjoyable and stress-free for children. Through the use of these tools and gamification, learning Chinese could be more fun and lively, children's interest in learning could be stimulated. Effective learning techniques and strategies will be provided to help children improve their speaking skills. Parents and children can also explore the fun of learning the language together through games and interactive activities during the seminar.
