Mdm Xu Jinhong is a Senior Specialist at the Curriculum Planning and Development Division, Ministry of Education with 29 years of experience in the Education Service. She is involved in the planning and development of the 2015 Primary Chinese Language Curriculum, research for the Primary Chinese Language Curriculum and the training of primary school teachers.
Mdm Wu Xiuqing is a Chinese Language teacher at Qihua Primary School. She was one of the recipients of 2019 Outstanding Chinese Language Teacher Award, organised by Zaobao, and conducted sharing and Open Classroom lessons on National platforms, such as the ‘Third National Primary Chinese Teachers’ Sharing”. She has provided invaluable inputs as a member of the CPDD Mother Tongue Support Programme for Primary Chinese working committee. Mdm Wu was also invited by Singapore Press Holdings to be involved in the editorial work for ‘Thumbs Up”, a publication for students.
Understanding the 2015 Primary School Chinese Language Curriculum - Supporting Your Child in Learning Chinese
Huanle Huoban, the Primary Chinese Language Curriculum, was implemented at Primary One in 2015 and was extended to Primary Six this year. This curriculum aims at enabling students to communicate in Chinese, appreciate Chinese culture and connect with Chinese communities in Asia and beyond.
The speaker will share how the curriculum enables children to learn Chinese in class and how schools support their students in the transition from pre-school to primary school. It also provides tips on how parents can better support their children in learning Chinese in fun and engaging ways.
