Melissa Choo See Check
Ms Melissa Choo See Check is an Associate Librarian at the National Library Board, whose work provides her with the opportunity to keep up with reading trends in Chinese language children’s books. Ms Melissa enjoys sharing with the community through conducting and overseeing programmes for parents and children. A former educator, she has observed that developing the habit of reading helps children to master a language. Her current work involves advocating for reading, especially in Mother Tongue Language (MTL), which gives her great joy.
Living Languages: Reading in Chinese to Children Aged 0 to 6 Years Old

This is important, as more children are growing up in a predominantly English language background. Ms Melissa, a librarian and selector of Chinese language titles at public libraries, will introduce must-read Chinese children’s collections and share practical tips in choosing fun Chinese books for parents and children to kickstart their reading journey together.
